Passengers miss their flight, jump onto the tarmac and try to stop the aircraft from taking off

This extraordinary incident took place last Tuesday at Istanbul’s Sabiha Gökçen Airport. At the time of the occurrence, the boarding bridge had already been detached from the plane, as the staff was preparing for take-off.

However, to the surprise of pretty much everyone, a passenger who had arrived late at the boarding gate, accompanied by his two sons, decided to take matters into his own hands, forcefully breaking through the boarding gate door in order to prevent the plane from departing. Images captured from the terminal show the audacious moment when the man jumps onto the tarmac and approaches the pushback tractor, demanding that the plane be brought back so they can board. Eventually, the passenger was restrained by the handling staff until airport security arrived at the scene.

According to the Times of Israel, the incident resulted in a delay of approximately one hour and fifteen minutes.

Following the incident, all three passengers were promptly detained and taken to the local police station. The Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs has acknowledged the incident and assured that the Israeli consulate in Istanbul is actively working to address the situation.
